Overall Conference Purpose Statement

The CMSNE Spring 2025 conference is designed to equip you with the latest strategies and best practices to excel in the evolving landscape of healthcare. In today’s dynamic and rapidly changing healthcare environment, case managers are faced with unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI), the critical need for cultural competency, and the complexities surrounding professional ethics are just a few of the key issues that require our attention. As healthcare professionals, it is essential that we not only prioritize our patients’ well-being but also our own, through effective self-care and leadership.

This conference brings together esteemed national and regional speakers who will share their expertise on effective understanding of cultural competency, as well as the critical implications of AI use in risk assessment and reimbursement. We will also explore essential leadership and performance strategies, including the importance of self-care in maintaining your physical and emotional well-being. Join us for an engaging and informative conference that will enhance your professional practice and support your growth as a case manager.

 Overall Conference Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this conference the attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the ethical implications not only in the healthcare environment, but in case management decision making.
  • Identify AI as uses as a Case Management tool and empower Case managers to be part of this change.
  • Discuss the importance of Cultural Competency in implementing effective healthcare strategies that understand, appreciate and respond effectively to cultural beliefs, values and practices of diverse patients.
  • Identify key leadership attributes and strategies to inspire others, while applying the learned knowledge of self-care strategies: Personal well-being, overcoming self-doubt, and performance to improve your professional practice

Session I – AI Ethics in Healthcare

This session invites participants to analyze the use of artificial intelligence I healthcare considering the CCMC Code of Professional Conduct and the four principles approach to medical ethics. The four principles approach, developed by Beauchamp and Childress in their book the Principles of Biomedical Ethics, is prominently featured in the CCMC Code of Professional Conduct. Participants will learn how AI is being deployed in healthcare and will be invited to ethically analyze its use considering how it affects the overall wellbeing of patients.

Session II AI in Healthcare: Balancing Innovation, Risk, and Real-World Impact
This presentation explores the impact of AI in healthcare, covering its current applications, benefits, risks, and the role of clinicians and case managers in ensuring responsible AI use. The session balances AI’s potential to improve efficiency and outcomes with concerns about bias, transparency, and ethical considerations. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for critically evaluating AI tools and advocating for responsible implementation.

Session III Bridging the Gap: Cultural Competence as the Key to
Overcoming Health Disparities
Today and Tomorrow – A Fireside Chat
Join us for an engaging session where we’ll define cultural competence and healthcare disparities, explore their historical evolution, and discuss their impact on daily community work. You’ll have the chance to share experiences, learn how to implement effective healthcare strategies that respect cultural beliefs and values, and understand the role of data and research.     This session will provide resources for continued learning and development, helping case managers improve cultural competence and address healthcare disparities for better patient outcomes.

Case studies and group discussions will explore all conference topics. By registering for this event, the attendee understands that CMSNE has researched, and is following the latest recommendations for crowd safety. The attendee understands that their participation in this event is voluntary, but compliance with the stated safety practices is required, to assure their attendance. They understand that failing to comply with the stated safety practices can impact their health and the health of other attendees. Further, they understand that CMSNE is not responsible for their actions, or the actions of their fellow attendees, and therefor is not responsible or liable for the transmission of any pathogen or any expenses related to testing or treating any subsequent exposure or illness.

General Chapter Event Registration Refund Policy
The following policy applies to all events:
• Registration can be transferred to another person if requested in writing by e-mail to CMSNE@CMSNE.org by the original registrant at least one week before the event.
• All refunds are subject to a 10% administrative fee. If canceled up to 7 days before the event, 100% of the registration fee (less the administrative fee) will be refunded.
If canceled less than 7 days before the event no refund is available.
• No refund is given for a cancellation on the day of the program or post event.

On the day of the event
• No refund will be offered at the venue if the attendee answers “Yes” to any of the screening questions.
